Originating in Shigaraki, Koka city, Shiga Prefecture, Shigaraki-yaki (Shigaraki ware) is one of Japan’s most cherished traditional ceramic tanuki statues are especially beloved.

Each feature of the tanuki—from its round belly and friendly face to the sake flask and ledger it holds—carries symbolic meaning.

These figures have long been considered lucky charms, believed to bring prosperity, safety, and happiness.

滋賀県甲賀市信楽町で生まれた伝統工芸「信楽焼」。その中でも特に親しまれているのが、たぬきの置物です。
